| Jails get surprise inspection |

TEXAS - Inspectors with the Texas Commission on Jail Standards showed up Monday at the Dallas County Jail for their annual inspection – two months early. The six inspectors will be evaluating staffing, sanitation and general conditions at the county's five jails through the end of the week. The county's annual jail inspection normally is in March – with advance notice. But Adan Munoz, the commission's executive director, said he wanted to have an inspection report ready for the commission's next meeting, on Feb. 7. He said surprise inspections are not unheard of.
