KENTUCKY - Gov. Steve Beshear yesterday named veteran Kentucky corrections official LaDonna Thompson as commissioner of the Department of Corrections. "Commissioner Thompson becomes the first female in the commonwealth to assume the great responsibility and the great opportunity of this position," Beshear said at a press conference.
