| Corrections looking into Christchurch |

NEW ZEALAND - The Corrections Department says it is already looking into problems at Christchurch Men's Prison. It follows claims inmates are running parts of the prison. The reports are based on a leaked memo from the chairman of the Canterbury Corrections Association Nigel Herring. Department chief executive Barry Matthews says an investigation has been underway since the union made complaints about management in October. He says a team of investigators are looking into his claims, along with a former prison manager from the North Island. Acting Corrections Minister Annette King wants her own investigation. Read more.
