The FBI says three women and an inmate have been charged with trying to smuggle heroin inside the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago. Officials say 39-year-old Mabel West, 34-year-old Denise West and 34-year-old Emma Clark were arrested last Tuesday. Each faces one count of conspiring to provide a controlled substance to an inmate of a federal prison. M-C-C inmate Michael West was also charged. Officials say he's the brother of Mabel and Denise West. The complaint says the women brought heroin to Michael West in balloons smuggled under their clothes. Authorities say each balloon contained about two-thousand dollars worth of heroin, which Michael West resold in 250-dollar portions to other inmates. The women were released on bond. Michael West is scheduled to appear in court March 31st. |
