Out of county COs could lose jobs

NEW JERSEY - Four Camden County Jail [officers] at the center of a union battle over a county policy that bans out-of-county residency for jail officers could be fired by month's end. The corrections officers -- all of whom live outside Camden County -- face a Feb. 21 disciplinary hearing where the county is expected to push for their dismissal, said Stuart Alterman, the lawyer representing the four jail guards and their union, Police Benevolent Association Local 351.

"They're upset," said Alterman of his clients Adrian Cooley, Monica Cooley, Christopher Davis and Sgt. David Smith, who all declined comment. "They see so many people who don't live in Camden County or who have lied about where they live who aren't getting disciplined. Read more.
