| Former Utah director new probation chief |

UTAH - The county has a permanent successor to former Chief Probation Officer Deborah Botts about a year after she left. Brent Cardall, who spent more than two decades with the Utah Department of Corrections, will begin as the San Benito County chief probation officer Thursday. The state-run San Benito County Superior Court and county government worked together in selecting Cardall. According to a statement from the court, Cardall recently served as director of inmate placement services for the Utah Department of Corrections and holds a master's degree in human resource management from Webster University.
