CONNECTICUT - It didn't take long for Republicans and Democrats to resume their criminal justice debate once the regular 2008 General Assembly session began Wednesday. Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell used her annual budget and state of the state address to warn the legislature's majority Democrats that she still wants mandatory minimum sentences for violent offenders - and mandatory life terms for the most violent.
