| Contract approval includes pay raise, health care benefits |

PENNSYLVANIA - Crawford County officials took the first step toward settling a long list of employee contracts Thursday by agreeing to a four-year pact with prison workers that increases both pay and employee health-care contributions. Commissioners approved a new pact for the AFSCME union Local 2643, covering 45 corrections employees, that grants workers a raise of 45 cents an hour each year for the next four years. The contract also includes shift-differential pay increases, and pay hikes of 10 cents per hour for employees after five years on the job and 15 cents per hour after nine years. The contract additionally increases the death benefit from $15,000 to $20,000, and excludes sick leave, bereavement and jury duty from overtime calculations, according to highlights of the contract that county Finance Director Robin Sye presented to commissioners.
