A registered nurse who worked at the Summit County (Ohio) Jail is now an inmate there after police charged her with stealing drugs intended for prisoners.
Mary Gatskie, 57, was behind bars Tuesday after detectives from the Summit County Sheriff's department were tipped that she had jailhouse pills in her Akron home.
Gatskie allowed detectives to search her home, where they found prescription drugs that weren't in her name.
Lt. John Karabatsos said the pills included mental health drugs. He said Gatskie had been suspected of stealing drugs for at least 60 days before her arrest.
The Sheriff's Department said Gatskie acknowledged taking the drugs from the jail.
She has been charged with one count of theft of dangerous drugs, which is a fourth-degree felony.
Additional charges are expected when the case is presented to a grand jury, according to the Sheriff's Department.
Gatskie worked for Prison Health Services, which has a contract with Summit County to provide medical services to inmates at the jail.
