Fiscal group wants education improved

CALIFORNIA - The Legislature's fiscal watchdog says California prisons do a poor job educating inmates and provide little benefit for the $200 million they spend annually on vocational and classroom programs.

The nonpartisan Legislative Analyst's Office reports that less than a third of inmates participate in school or job training programs. Read more.
