| County to restore work crews |

MICHIGAN - The state Department of Corrections will be reinstating its prison work crew program in Jackson County and other selected areas -- but at double the cost, a spokesman said today. Local municipalities will now have to pay $30 to $37.50 per prisoner to have six- to eight-member crews maintain grounds, cemeteries and perform other tasks. The cost was $15 per prisoner. Read more.
