| Sheriff will get state corrections post |

NEW YORK - Niagara County Sheriff Thomas A. Beilein is to be appointed chairman of the state Commission of Corrections, a three-member panel that regulates conditions and procedures in county and municipal jails. State Sen. George D. Maziarz, R-Newfane, said today that Gov. Eliot L. Spitzer contacted him personally to clear the appointment, which Maziarz said is to be officially announced soon. Read more.
