Ind. panel OKs sentence credit bill

INDIANA - Senate committee unanimously approved legislation today that would clarify how education credits can be used to reduce prison sentences.

The vote came after Chris Gatz of Jeffersonville testified about the drunken driving crash that killed his 16-year-old son John, and how the driver who was responsible was nearly released early from prison because the Department of Correction had given her early-release credits for earning both a high school diploma and a GED.
