| Gang crime draws more time |

MICHIGAN - The Michigan Senate voted Thursday to lengthen prison time for gang members who commit crimes and to discourage retaliation against those who try to leave a gang. Two officials in Calhoun County trying to lower gang violence said the new laws would be beneficial. "Communities are being impacted by gang violence and any tools you can give law enforcement and prosecutors to get the leadership off the street and enhance those penalties is a good thing," Prosecutor John Hallacy said.
