Nine become COs

NEW YORK - Tioga County Sheriff Gary Howard welcomed guests on Monday during a graduation ceremony for nine Tioga County and Cortland County corrections officers. Held at the Public Safety Building in Owego, N.Y., Howard thanked the families of the officers in training for their support, and recognized law enforcement officers that were present at the ceremony as well as dignitaries. Before certificates were presented, a brief slide show was offered containing photos taken during the pepper spray portion of the corrections officer training.

“Everyone who works in Tioga County uses pepper spray,” said Howard. “We wanted to show everyone how they used it during their training.” Read more.
