| Fla. group talks ex-felon voting rights |

FLORIDA - The issue of whether ex-felons should be able to get certain occupational licenses should be separated from the question of whether they can vote, which could speed up the process of voting rights restoration, an advocacy group said Thursday. Last April, the Board of Executive Clemency, chaired by Gov. Charlie Crist, approved a change that sped up some civil rights restoration for many ex-offenders who finished their sentences. But the process isn't automatic for many. Many must first undergo a background investigation by the Parole Commission. Read more.
