OpEd: Shift changes hurt clerks

DELAWARE - I am a fairly new employee of the State of Delaware. I am a member of a small group of about 30 people who work as records clerks at correctional institutions around the state. It's one of the lowest-paid positions in the Correction Department. We serve a vital function working with courts to make sure no inmate is released before he has paid for his crime.

Recently the department announced that all correctional clerks around the state would be transferred to a central location in Dover. This affects clerks from New Castle to Georgetown. Read more.
