NEW YORK - A site in the town of Schuyler could be the home of a new Herkimer County Jail. The site is located next to the Schuyler Business Park on Route 5 and has been selected as a preliminary site for the new jail. The Public Safety and Emergency Management Committee voted Wednesday evening and with their selection in place, they will now contact the state Commission of Corrections. "This is not an approved site, so it's going to take the state's approval. We'll ask them to come up and approve that, kind of go from there.
