| OpEd: Corrections programs worth it |

ALABAMA - Two alternative corrections programs in Baldwin County are experiencing growing pains, but their goals are worth solving the problems that have arisen. The most troubled of the two is the Girls Residential Wilderness Center, which is intended to rehabilitate females ages 13 to 18. Open for a year, the center has lost $1.7 million. Even worse, its assistant director, Jennifer Hadley, has resigned and accused her boss, Bill Ford, of inappropriate behavior toward her and of misrepresenting the program's finances to the county. These are serious allegations, and the county is investigating them. The County Commission, and by extension taxpayers, must cover the shortfall. Read more.
