OHIO - If the closure and subsequent sale of the Robert Scott Correctional Facility does, indeed, turn out to be a boon for Northville Township, State Sen. Bruce Patterson (R-Canton), may turn out to be one of the unsung heroes behind it. Township officials got word last week that the state planned to close down the facility next year, declare the land as surplus and put it up for sale. It was something that was long in the rumor mill, but when the call came it was a relative shock—even though it was a pleasant surprise. The reason I bring it up is because it wasn’t too long ago that township officials fielded another—and very different—call from the state about the facility. Read more.
