CANADA - The Nova Scotia government's policy of getting tough on crime is leading to overcrowding in jails across the province, say corrections officers, and that's compromising their safety. The officers, who belong to local 408 of the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union, met in Dartmouth on Wednesday to discuss safety issues created by the overcrowding. Read more.
