| Volunteer reaches out to county inmates |

ILLINOIS - Reaching out to prisoners "isn't the kind of ministry people are standing in line for," admitted Carl Norlin of Lindenhurst. "A lot of that is based on fear and not knowing what to do," Norlin said. "But if you can read, you can do prison ministry. I've seen a lot of positive reaction by prison inmates who often are moved to tears by the experience." Norlin is a teammate in Bill Glass Champions for Life, a not-for-profit national program based in Dallas that has about 30 members from St. Mark Lutheran Church in Lindenhurst. On Saturday, the first Day of Champions will be held at the Lake County Jail, with about 40 volunteers visiting with inmates. Read more.
