| CDCR prepares area for layoffs |

CALIFORNIA - The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is preparing to send letters to its 2,768 employees in San Joaquin County, telling them the area is subject to layoffs with the upcoming closure this year of a Stockton-area youth prison. “It’s too early to say that we’re not going to have any layoffs,” department spokesman George Kostyrko said. “Our goal is to make sure we don’t have them.” Read more.
