| Regional jails to tighten belts |

WEST VIRGINIA - As the state's regional jails continue to struggle with their finances, photocopies are becoming a luxury that the director of the system now says they can no longer afford. Terry Miller, executive director of the West Virginia Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority, recently directed staff members to "be more conscious" about the amount of photocopies they were making, saying that employees were making too many copies. It is one of 18 directives that Miller has issued in an attempt to cut costs within the system after a legislative session in which lawmakers shot down every proposal the authority brought forward in its quest to save money. "Most of (the bills) just got out of one committee, and that was it," Miller told the WVRJ Authority Board during a March 31 meeting. Read more.
