Teen substance abuse down

MAINE - Old Orchard Beach Deputy Police Chief Keith Babin said although underage drinking and substance abuse in town is growing less frequent, it is an everlasting problem.

“Substance abuse and drinking among minors doesn’t just go away, but we are making strides,” Babin said.

One of such strides occurred March 26 when Maine Attorney General Steven Rowe and a panel of speakers hosted what Rowe called a “call to action meeting,” at the Old Orchard Beach High School. The theme of the evening: “Why is underage drinking a major public safety issue and what is our response to this problem in Maine and our community?” Read more.
