| Calif. prisons lock down after attack |

CALIFORNIA - State corrections officials placed California's entire adult prison system on lockdown Thursday afternoon after two gang members attacked four officers inside a Tehachapi facility, a spokesman said. The prison guards -- two sergeants and two correctional officers -- were injured in the 1:10 p.m. assault in an office at the California Correctional Institution. They were taken to area hospitals. Three officers sustained cuts and puncture wounds during the attack by the inmates, members of the Surenos, a Southern California gang, and two weapons were recovered, said officials with the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Guards used pepper spray, batons and physical force to stop the attack. Both inmates were also injured and hospitalized, and one was flown from the prison by helicopter for treatment of head wounds. Tehachapi prison is 3,100 over capacity~~they are all stuffed in like sardines~ even though the Gov,sent 3,000 inmates to out of state(also crowded prisons) a new flock of prisoners,replaces them,for inmates to attack guards,knowing there will be severe retaliations~they are at the edge,and appears these guards where not the nicest of characters~~the oppression in all prisons are severe,especially when they are all past the point of repair~~while the Gov.takes his time~~hopefully the new Federal Receiver Kelso,will make immediate changes~~for inmates and guards safety~~those guys who attacked,will probably be set up by guards to be killed or driven insane,or tortured in the Shu which are isolation units,where they are locked in their cells for 23 hours a day~~if they make it out~`then of course,we the people will suffer consequences for what ever abuse they have been subjected to~~Inmates are feeling desperate,with no hope,because of over enhanced sentences,the 3 strikes law.They are doing life,for simple stuff,such as stealing food ~~why are people having to steal food in the first place?
