A corrections officer at Mansfield Correctional Institution in Ohio could face a 10-year prison sentence after his arrest last Monday in Ontario with 29 grams of marijuana. Michael D. Plaster, 36, of Galion is charged with illegal conveyance onto the grounds of a correctional facility and bribery. Both are third-degree felonies punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Plaster pleaded not guilty to both charges last Monday in Mansfield Municipal Court. He was given a $10,000 bond and will appear in court again April 1 at 9 a.m. for a pretrial hearing. According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, troopers and the Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections received information that Plaster was planning to take drugs purchased in Ontario into the prison. Troopers believe he had a $50 bribe in his pocket. He was arrested at 3:30 p.m. last Monday at a parking lot in Ontario. |
