ARIZONA - Grunts, groans and the sound of bodies hitting mats could be heard upon entering the National Guard Armory last Friday as corrections officers spent the day training. Jail Commander Tim Graver said Sheriff Frank Hughes was adamant that corrections offices receive at least 12 hours of continuous training each month. “Our guys train 12 hours a month,” Graver said, “so this is one of our normal training days.” Joining Graham County corrections officers were corrections officers from Gila County and the San Carlos and Tohono O’odham reservations. “We’ve turned it into more of an all-day for everybody else so we can get them up to speed,” Graver said.
