OHIO - During his 20 years as a military pilot, Doug Scoles lost some good friends as a result of drunk driving, and there wasn't a thing he could do about it. In his next career as a corrections officer, Scoles saw many lives ruined by substance abuse, as often as not alcohol, and there was very little he could do about that. Now that he's executive director of the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Ohio State Office, the Grove City resident deals daily with the impacts of the crime of drinking and driving. Only this time around, there's a lot he can try to do about the issue. At first Scoles said, he took the job six years ago as pretty much that: a job.
