WISCONSIN - Gabe Umentum finally got a good night's sleep during the weekend. Late last week, Umentum received word that a felony case brought against him by an inmate had been dropped. "This has been over my head for the last six months. My wife and I are very relieved that it's over," said Umentum, a correctional officer at Waupun Correctional Institution. The case against the 25-year-old correctional officer spearheaded a campaign led by state corrections workers to change archaic John Doe laws that allow inmates to sidestep typical legal channels and win a quick pass to the courtroom.
