NEW ZEALAND - Parliament's law and order select committee has unanimously decided to hold an inquiry into the Department of Corrections. National MP Simon Power proposed the inquiry in 2006 but the committee did not agree to it until now. The committee is made up of National and Labour MPs with New Zealand First MP Ron Mark, who chairs it, holding the casting vote. Speaking in his role as NZ First MP, Mr Mark said he had not voted against the inquiry but had not until now supported it going ahead. Read more.
