Concern over inquiry

NEW ZEALAND - The Corrections Minister is urging a committee investigating the Corrections Department not to get involved in a political football. A parliamentary select committee has launched the wide-ranging inquiry in the wake of several high-profile incidents involving prisoners and prison security.

Phil Goff fears the inquiry will be sidetracked by the negativity of opposition parties who are highlighting the incidents. He wants the committee to focus also on the positive aspects of the Corrections Department. Read more.
