| Inmate transfers refused |

NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA - More than 50 Nova Scotia prison [officers] have refused to transfer inmates this month, says the Justice Department. The majority of those refusals — 49 of them — were this week and involved the same inmate, a woman who needed to be escorted from the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Dartmouth to a Halifax hospital, said department spokeswoman Carla Grant. Ms. Grant said a total of 45 correctional officers were asked Wednesday to make the transfer and one by one they refused. Another four were asked Thursday and they also said no, so management officials at the Dartmouth jail escorted her instead, Ms. Grant said.
