| Youth center wants more security, staff |

ILLINOIS - Kewanee Youth Center's union for youth supervisors tabled a no confidence vote Friday. American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 801 president Todd Williams said his union will give the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice two weeks before voting again. Mr. Williams said the youth supervisors, also known as correctional officers, want better staffing, more teachers and better security. The facility, which treats juvenile sex offenders, always has been a place of danger, Mr. Williams said. He's concerned that when the juveniles leave the facility, they enter the real world with no basic skills or discipline. Read more.
