NEW HAMPSHIRE - A year-old change in the law is prompting a Glendale man, charged with second-degree murder in a brutal beating death, to argue whether it is constitutional for a defendant facing a possible life prison sentence to be denied bail pending trial. Darryll M. Bifano, 37, was indicted earlier this month on alternate counts of second-degree murder in the January death of Stephen A. Grodske of Laconia. He has been held without bail at the Belknap County Department of Corrections jail since Jan. 10, four days after a 911 call brought police and medical personnel to a cottage colony at 59 Weirs Blvd. Read more.
