The Williamson County (Texas) Juvenile Justice Center has been open less then six months, but it's already had two teens walk away. The two 16-year-old girls made their escape early Wednesday morning during physical training. The girls were residents of the Academy, a non-secure section of the Juvenile Justice Center. So far, since the Academy began in 1994, there have only been eight cadets who have chosen to walk away. "We could turn the facility into a maximum security facility where they're locked up but we've found that doesn't do well with most youth," Director of Juvenile Justice Charly Skaggs said. |
