| Prosecutor proposes murder law changes |

INDIANAPOLIS - The Marion County prosecutor wants to change Indiana's murder statute to cover people who intentionally kill a fetus. Prosecutor Carl Brizzi, State Senator Jim Merritt and Representative Michael Murphy say they'll try to amend the murder statute in next year's session of the legislature. Their proposal would cover the death of any fetus, regardless of whether it can survive outside the womb. Current law allows a murder charge when a fetus dies, but only if the fetus is at least seven months old. A pregnant bank teller lost her twins last week after she was shot in the abdomen by a gunman during a robbery, but she was only five months pregnant. Read more.
