NEW JERSEY - An escape attempt “in the very early stages” was thwarted at the Atlantic County jail Sunday evening after at least one inmate attempted to carve an escape hole in a concrete wall, according to a jail official. The incident took place in the main jail building of the justice facility, said Captain Sean Thomas of the Atlantic County Department of Public Safety. The Atlantic Avenue facility in Mays Landing has two main sections — the main jail building and the main jail annex. Read more.
