MISSISSIPPI - Alcorn County officials who will occupy a new regional and county jail complex got a first look on Tuesday at architect's drawings of the facility prepared by The LeBlanc Group of Louisiana. Consultant Irb Benjamin of Jackson spent several hours going over the designs with supervisors and each of the stakeholders who will occupy offices in the building to determine whether early design features are satisfactory. Specifications the various departments sent to the architects as a starting point would require an 89,000-square-foot facility, Benjamin said. The approach the architects took was to figure out what size building they could construct within the project's budget of about $14 million. Read more.
