| Computer needs delay jail debut |

OHIO - The ribbon cutting and tours will go on as scheduled, but the new Richland County Jail may not receive any prisoners until next month. Maj. Roger Paxton, jail administrator, said Wednesday the $21.5 million facility was scheduled to open May 19. The end of June seems a more likely date while the facility waits for a computer system and the purchase order number to buy it. He said the sheriff's department was working with the auditor and the commissioners to get that. "We are working at this and trying to come to some clarity," said Commissioner Tim Wert, the board of commissioners point man for the jail project. Read more.
