| Groden pushes for jail space |

MICHIGAN - The St. Clair County Board of Commissioners met Wednesday night for initial discussions about a number of issues, including increasing the number of beds at the jail and helping Cottrellville Township build a 4.5-mile water line. The meeting brought together four committees that hashed out the issues before the official board meeing May 21. The six commissioners, absent Patrick Quain, voted to move forward with a contract that would increase the amount of bed space available at the county jail for immigration inmates. The jail currently has 423 beds available. County administrator Shaun Groden, who spoke on the issue, requested an additional 48 beds. Read more.
