ALASKA - Two Anchorage lawmakers say the Legislature needs to audit the state's Department of Corrections. Democratic Sens. Bill Wielechowski and Hollis French have asked the state's Legislative Budget and Audit Committee to authorize the audit. The two lawmakers say allegations of unhealthy and unsafe conditions for inmates and corrections officers drove their concern. Read more.
