| Public warned after classic prison escape |

NEW ZEALAND - Police are warning the public not to approach a remand prisoner on the run after a classic escape from Auckland’s aging Mount Eden Prison. A rope, made of what appeared to be blankets and sheets, was used in the escape early this morning. A member of the public saw the escape at about 6.15 this morning and notified police but the prisoner got away. The rope remained for much of the day hanging from one of the prison towers, over a razor wire topped wall and down to the ground beside the western railway line and Boston Road. Read more.
