Bill to release terminally sick inmates

NORTH CAROLINA - Terminally ill prison inmates would be paroled early under a bill approved by a committee in the state House of Representatives. The bill, which has passed the Senate, would allow certain inmates, their relatives or the system itself to request early release.

Senator Tony Rand of Fayetteville says the inmates would have to be elderly with a chronic condition, disabled or terminally ill. Read more.
