| Hearing brings extra firepower |

CALIFORNIA - State corrections agents and federal marshals toting assault rifles were posted outside the federal courthouse while a Pelican Bay inmate was inside for a hearing today. Pelican Bay public information officer Lt. Ken Thomas said the prison got an order from a federal magistrate to produce the inmate, and that extra personnel were needed because security is not optimal at the Fifth and H streets building.
