| Department denies asbestos danger |

IOWA - The Department of Corrections says they don't believe any inmates or workers at the Newton Correctional Facility, have been exposed to asbestos. The alleged exposure took place during renovations of an office building on prison grounds. After meeting with the Division of Labor Services, the department issued this statement, "The asbestos containing material was in the floor tile adhesive, covered by two layers of carpeting and was not disturbed during the time the walls were removed."
