| Corrections to get new recruits |

KENTUCKY - Police, fire and corrections will get money for new recruits as part of Mayor Jerry Abramson's proposed metro budget that focuses heavily on public safety. Abramson said yesterday he is proposing to pay for three police recruit classes with about 100 officers in all. He wasn't sure how many of the department's 1,255 sworn officers might retire in the next year, but expressed hope that the force will grow at least a little. He said there are plans for one new fire department recruit class of about 30, and four classes totaling about 80 new corrections officer recruits.
