PENNSYLVANIA - He's listened to the stories of prison and jail inmates for nearly two decades, and so many sad endings have fueled Tom Boldin's desire to help local youth avoid the same fate. A former manager and now chaplain at the State Correctional Institution at Rockview, as well as a mentor at the county jail, the Spring Township resident brings a unique perspective to a group of trained volunteers that make up the county’s two Youth Aid Panels. The community-led panels offer an alternative to the normal court system for youth who have committed an arrestable offense for the first time. “I’ve listened to so many stories where someone told me how they ended up doing life (in prison) when it started small,” Boldin said.
