| Undersheriff tapped for youth jail study |

NEW JERSEY - The Monmouth County sheriff has appointed a veteran department administrator to take over a study of the possible closure of the county Youth Detention Center. Executive Undersheriff Clifford Daniels, who runs the sheriff's office communications division/911 call center and police computer system, will research the current operation of the center and consider the impact of closing the Freehold Township facility, Sheriff Kim Guadagno said Monday. "Undersheriff Daniels has a wealth of experience in corrections and youth detention," Guadagno said. "I can't think of a more qualified corrections professional to review the operations at the youth detention center, which will ultimately determine whether or not the facility should remain open."
