New Mexico State Police tell Action 7 News that two escaped inmates are back in custody. Joseph Archuleta, 18, and Alan Green, 19, were arrested inside a taxi cab early last Wednesday afternoon in Moriarty. Archuleta and Green ran from a recreation area at the Camino Nuevo Detention Center through a fire escape last Monday night. The pair then climbed two fences with razor wire on top. Police believe both spent the night at a motel in Moriarty. State police Lieutenant Jimmy Glascock said officers received a tip around noon that the teens might be leaving in a taxi cab, and when the cab pulled out, officers stopped it. Now, investigators are awaiting a search warrant to enter that motel room to gather evidence. Green was serving time for parole violation. Archuleta is a suspect in the shooting death of a Moriarty teenager. He also has a lengthy criminal record. |
